A LITTLE PRINCESS
Francess Hodgson Burnet story of a little girl who is left at a boarding school by her father who then disappears. When it seems that no more fees are going to be paid she becomes a Cinderella type figure, but she is always a little princess! Delightful story which is also interwoven with extracts from the Ramayana

BABES IN TOYLAND
Cartoon in the classic style about a brother and sister who go to live with their wicked uncle in Toyland. Lovely story, good animation and some nice songs.

BAMBI TWO - 8 - At last Disney has made a reasonable follow up to a classic; a sweet story cleverly set in the period between the death of Bambi's mother and the sprouting of his antlers.

BARBIE SWAN LAKE/BARBIE -THE NUTCRACKER
Hi, I was recently surprised when seeing two of the 'Barbie' films, with my children. I was drawn to each film, and stuck around until the end. They really were not what I expected. I expected the films to push the Barbie franchise, encouraging little girls to diet and wear bikinis etc The films I have seen - Barbie Swan Lake and - Barbie -The Nutcracker - were such a relief from the relentlessly loud and adult humour of Disney, Pixar and Dreamworks animated movies. The Barbie collection of films moves at a gentle pace, with nicely drawn computer animation. Just right for younger children - 7 and younger -which is a market hollywood seems to have completely forgotten these past few years. I would personally give these films a score of 9.
-JASON Mulryan - - SOUTH AFRICA.
ELF: 8 Starts out looking really naff but improves later on. Not really for over tens (unless you're 45!)

ELLA ENCHANTED - MONTY PYTHON MEETS SHREK TYPE ADVENTURE - BRILLIANT 9/10

GAIA - ANOTHER NICE ONE FOR THE KIDS, A BIT DIFFERENT BUT GOOD FUN
ANIMATED FILM WHERE INVENTED CHARACTERES COME INTO THE REAL WORLD

HARRY POTTER 4 - An excellent job from one of the weaker books, roared with laughter in some parts! A bit heavy towards the end - 9

HAUNTED MANSION – Eddie Murphy stars in this romp about a smart middle class couple who take their kids to see an apparently empty old mansion – Great fun

KIRI KU

MATTILDA
Roald Dahl tale of a little girl who discovers she has special powers. She then uses them to battle a terrifyingly brutal headmistress.

NARNIA - You could find quite a few things to criticize about this adaptation of the C.S. Lewis masterpiece, but for me it was , quite simply, magical
Children evacuated into the country from wartime London find themselves in an old country house and one of them finds a wardrobe that leads to a magic land 10

NUTCRACKER (NEW YORK BALLET)
Try to tear your kids away from Barbie long enough to see this lovely adaptation.

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN 9 LOOKS A BIT WEIRD BUT ACTUALLY IT'S GREAT FUN FOR ALL THE FAMILY
Finbar – Italy
POLAR EXPRESS - Bit experimental but, for me, it worked, particularly liked the representation of Father Christmas, a bit alien/deity like instead of the usual kindly old man. A child who doesn’t believe in Father Christmas is awakened by the sound of a train passing his window....destination, the North pole

RAMAYANA
This is a Japanese cartoon version of the classic Indian epic. Made by Double Helix films it is surprisingly faithful to the story.

THE CURSE OF THE WERERABBIT - Wallace and Gromit strike again, brilliant, as usual, though not quite up to the standard of WRONG TROUSERS - Lots of hidden gags – 8

THE PRINCESS BRIDE
Swashbuckling classic that younger kids might not have seen. Beautiful girl treats her servant cruelly, then discovers she loves him just as they are parted. He is lost at sea and she is to marry a cruel prince, then, a mysterious stranger arrives.

THE SECRET GARDEN
Another Francess Hodgson Burnet tale, this time about a young orphan whose parents die in India and so she goes to live with her uncle in a gloomy house on the Yorkshire moors. The house and a secret garden, and that is not the only mystery. Not as well made as the BBC serialisation but nevertheless a lovely story.

THE WILDERNESS FAMILY
City family transfer to the Rockies to escape pollution. They have quite a few problems with the local inhabitants! Acting is so-so but the animals and the nature are fantastic.

WILLY WONKA - I WAS QUITE DISAPPOINTED WITH THIS FILM, JOHNNY DEPP IS MARVELLOUS BUT ITS VERY SIMILAR TO THE GENE WILDER VERSION AND THE SPECIAL EFFECTS ARE B MOVIE LEVEL 7/10
